Holi is a Hindu festival known as “the festival of colors” and is celebrated in spring. The holiday is meant to celebrate the arrival of spring, as well as the triumph of good over evil. Part of the holiday involves people throwing colored powders and drenching each other in water.

This tradition is mainly celebrated in India and Nepal, but the tradition of throwing colors at one another has spread to other parts of the globe. Holi, this year, occurred on March 13. However, Goucher scheduled the celebration on April 23rd.
