Goucher Men’s Lacrosse has been up and down all year. They have 5 wins and 4 losses entering the conference portion of the schedule. They started off strong this season, beating Scranton 12-10 for the first time since 2014. They went on to lose the next game to Elizabethtown 9-8 in overtime after a strong comeback during the third and fourth quarter. After a convincing 19-5 victory over non-conference opponent Immaculata University, the Gophers ended up falling to Susquehanna 17-7 this past Saturday, April 14, a game they needed to win to have any chance at clinching home field advantage for their first playoff game in May.

This Wednesday, April 18, Goucher welcomes in the Catholic University of America Cardinals at 4:00pm on Beldon Field. This game is a must win game to keep the Gopher’s playoff hopes alive. If the team can get the victory, it will almost secure a playoff spot, but with an almost unpredictable conference, anything could happen. After this game they still have 2 games left versus Drew and Moravian respectively. Last year Goucher lost to Drew in overtime and beat Moravian by only 4.

Susquehanna leads the Landmark conference with 4 wins in conference and a 10-4 record overall. If Goucher were to win out, they would propel themselves up to the third seed and face Elizabethtown in the Landmark semifinals.

During the game on Wednesday, there will be Raffles to win prizes. There will be a Blue and Gold spirit contest, so wear your craziest blue and gold Goucher apparel to win more prizes. And to top it all off, there will be free pizza to the first 250 students who come to support the Men’s Lacrosse team in their late playoff push.

Hope to see you there!
