The National Cherry Blossom Festival occurs every spring from around the middle of March to the middle of April (specific dates vary every year). This festival serves to celebrate Japan’s gift of 3,000 cherry blossom trees from Mayor Yukio Ozaki to the city of Washington, D.C.
Just steps away from the National Mall, the festival is very accessible and open to anyone! It’s also very easy to get to because of its close location to the Smithsonian Metro stop. Make sure to plan your trip ahead of time if you want to see the beautiful cherry blossoms and all the tourist attractions D.C. has to offer!
